Yea, for stuff like a playalong, as long as there is some vibe, I don't have a problem posting it. Started playing the drums in 1990 (after figuring out how to play beats by listening to And Justice for All by Metallica). The first time I tried to play Spur, it was like: fuggedaboutit!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've ALL been posting countless cd's, records, video's and dvd's on here for a few YEARS now. I've never heard anyone complain or for that matter, 'named' drummers such as Erskoman or Garry H mention it.

Why the sudden change of conscience? What is the difference between a few Weckl tunes and say a WHOLE BOOTLEGGED gig of Vinnie or any other player for that matter?

Methdod, I take it that due to a lack of emoticons such as [img]wink.gif[/img] or [img]tongue.gif[/img] , you are actually being serious. Is this what music is all about to you, competition? Get over yourself mate, we've all heard your Oakland stroke, so by posting it up AGAIN and saying "anyone who doubts my ability to groove..." really isn't doing yourself any favours at all.

I would like to know where that will get you when you get asked to play Body and Soul at quarter note = 50bpm or Bye Bye Blackbird, or any pop tune for that matter. The way you articulate yourself, it's as if you are trying to catch other people out with this so they loose the one. WHY? WHY? Is that where the joy is for you? I used to do this while at music college to be honest - but I soon grew out of it!!
It's interesting, because when I play, I actually WANT people to tap their feet along - as the music should groove and feel good, as opposed to them having to tap their feet in order to desperately latch onto the time that has disappeared.

If this really is your bag, may I suggest you enter one of those 'guitar store, let's see which drummer has the biggest penis, drum-off competitions' along with Nevseis (who has been rather conspicuous by his absence of late! [img]wink.gif[/img] )

This type of attitude is SO far from where I'm coming from it's untrue. I could post you countless mp3's of my playing Method and they are all WITH OTHER MUSICIANS. You see, that's what I do, I work with other people in varied stylistic playing situations. Perhaps you should take yourself out of your bedroom and start making creative, empathetic and dynamic music with other humans, instead of desperately posting and re-posting versions of yourself attempting to be a poor man's Weckl or Garibaldi.

I hope this explains why you will never see me rise to your 'challenge' and it's not through a lack of ability! You see for me Method, the REAL challenge and joy for that matter is playing with other people and making music that feels good.

Methodair- I think you should focus on your own playing.

I've seen a few of these threads degenerate now in the same manner as this one.

Why? You posted some music, a few people politely criticised....You got defensive.....People criticised with more honesty etc etc......

You seem to like your own playing alot, thats great. I wish I was as happy with my groove and chops... Some people who have replied aren't as impressed, so either ignore them (maybe they are all wrong)....or try to take on board what they say and learn from it.

When it crosses the line from being constructive to negative, expect a reaction.

When I see a negative person, that usually tells me they are not very good at what they do. And often, they portray themselves as something they're not. My first drum teacher was always trying to convince people he was all about the music, a composer...in it for only the purest, most noble reasons...

As a young drum student, I was surprised how defensive he became when the subject of learning drum licks arose...Quickly, he would tell me 'drumming is not a competition', 'drumlicks are bad'. He was easily threatened (not surprisingly, as a drummer, he couldn't play above a journeyman level).

Unapolagetically, I like the art of drumming. Whether it is complex or simple, and have a lot of fun learning it, so getting better is not a concern. When I see someone like Nevesis doing something positive, I'm not quick to attack it.

BTW, I write music for the extreme sports industry DVD market, with my brother (all around musician/composer/sound engineer). We also run a commercial recording studio.

Contrary to how someone like Sweep wants to perceive it, I like the feedback, and want to hear more cool drumming from you guys.
